The instructors were so kind and helpful! I really liked doing the drills as the repetitiveness really helped to drill the techniques into my head and muscle memory. When they noticed something that they thought any of us could work on, they would pull us aside to help us fix it. That individualized advice made such a big difference. It’s obvious that Honza enjoys giving lessons and turning out better Pickleball players. I certainly appreciate his patience.
It’s not just about hitting the ball back-and-forth from different parts of the court for an hour.  His focus is on teaching you technique and strategy. He has an uncanny ability to watch your movements and strokes and provide immediate corrections. The results of which have me shaking my head, wondering why I couldn’t figure that out.
Examples from my lesson this morning.:
Forehand Drive-finish across my shoulder get low to create more balance and transfer weight more equally.
Serve - like my forehand keep my paddle out instead of straight down stay balanced, move forward, too early with my wrist and end up over my shoulder.

Love Honza's Clinics.  Participated in his Intermediate+ 4.0 Clinic on Sunday 6/8/2025 at King Intermediate.  A lot of drills and pointers. I enjoyed the clinic at King Intermediate although it was hot.  I'm glad I attended the 8 am clinic.  I especially liked it because they asked what areas we wanted to learn and worked on those drills. It was nice meeting people from all over the island!

After getting "schooled" by the 4.0 60+ MXD teams at the Fall Brawl tournament in Utah, my partner and I decided to hire a coach. We chose Honza because he is well respected by the best players in Hawaii and he and his wife Lauren know how to win. From the start, he was able to identify what we needed to work on and drilled our group of 4 on lobs, resets, all kinds of dinks, and my favorite, angled roll volleys. He is masterful at giving feedback and making learning fun. Today we won our first gold medal. Our strategy was to do all the things we learned and it worked!!!! Mahalo! See you Sunday...bring it on!

Everyone starts somewhere. Choose the level that best describes where you are today.

Level 1 · Beginner

Beginner

Brand new to pickleball. Never picked up a paddle before — or have tried it only a couple of times. We start from the very beginning.

Level 2 · Beginner+

Beginner+

You've played before and understand the basics — serving, scoring, and keeping a rally going. Ready to build on that foundation.

Level 3 · Intermediate

Intermediate

You know how to play. You're looking to sharpen your technique, improve consistency, and understand more of the strategy behind the game.

Level 4 · Advanced

Advanced

You can hit all the shots and compete regularly. You want to be challenged, refine your game, and move up to the next level of play.

He will personally lead every free intro class — so you're learning directly from the person who built HPA from the ground up.
