Pickleball in Kailua, Oʻahu: Courts & Where to Play
Kailua has one of the strongest public-court setups on the Windward side, led by four dedicated pickleball courts at Kailua District Park plus additional lined courts nearby.

If you are staying in Kailua, Lanikai, or elsewhere on the Windward side, you do not have to drive into Honolulu just to find a pickleball court. The two main public options in Kailua are Kailua District Park and Keolu Hills Neighborhood Park.
Kailua District Park — The Main Pickleball Spot
Kailua District Park is the most complete public pickleball facility in Kailua. Honolulu DPR identifies it as one of the parks converted as part of the City's dedicated-court expansion.
The dedicated courts are the easiest option because you can simply show up with a paddle and balls. The additional four pickleball lines on tennis courts give the park more capacity when players bring portable nets.
Parking & Amenities
There is parking around the recreation complex, but it can fill when multiple park programs are happening. Additional parking near the Kailua Public Library can be useful depending on the time of day.
The larger district park also includes a gym, pool, basketball, fields, playground areas, and restrooms. Bring your own water, especially for daytime play.
Keolu Hills Neighborhood Park
The park at 1416 Keolu Drive is another free public option. Honolulu DPR currently lists 2 pickleball courts lined on volleyball courts. Because these are not dedicated courts, plan on bringing a portable net.
The older version of this guide called this “Keolu Hills Skateboard Park.” The City pickleball list identifies the pickleball location as Keolu Hills Neighborhood Park, while the skate park is part of the same general park area.
What About Open Play in Kailua?
Kailua has active local groups, but not every busy period is true public open play. Some groups meet at recurring times and rotate among friends, while indoor gym programs may run on seasonal recreation schedules.

Weather & Playing Conditions
Kailua is on the Windward side, so trade winds and quick showers are part of outdoor play. Wind can be noticeable across the courts and may affect lobs, serves, returns, and high balls.
The advantage at Kailua District Park is lighting, which makes evening play possible within park hours. Keolu Hills does not appear as lighted on the City's current pickleball list, so daylight is more important there.
Which Kailua Court Should You Choose?
If you want the simplest setup, start at Kailua District Park because the four dedicated courts have permanent nets. If those courts are crowded and you have a portable net, the additional tennis-lined courts or Keolu Hills give you alternatives.
For visitors without equipment beyond a paddle, the dedicated courts at Kailua District Park are the most straightforward public choice.
