Pickleball at The Pacific Club in Honolulu
I have been a member of The Pacific Club with my family for years, so this guide combines my firsthand experience with current 2026 club information about the courts, guest access, membership, dining, and athletic facilities.

The Pacific Club was established in 1851 and is one of Hawaiʻi's long-standing private social clubs. For me, pickleball is only part of what makes it useful: I can play, work out, shower, eat, meet people, and spend time with family without leaving the property.
The Pickleball Court Setup
The club's athletic area has four paddle-tennis courts. Current reciprocal-club material describes two of the four as specifically lined for pickleball. Court programming and setup can change, so members should use the current reservation system or athletic desk for the exact configuration available that day.
From my own experience, the playing area is well maintained, shaded seating is nearby, and evening lighting makes after-work play practical. Because the underlying courts are designed for paddle tennis rather than being purpose-built pickleball courts, the net/post configuration feels different from a dedicated pickleball facility.
Athletic Hours & Guest Access
Current online club-reference listings show athletic-facility access generally beginning early in the morning and continuing into the evening. Because published hours differ between sources and can change around holidays and club events, I would check the Athletic Kiosk or current member calendar rather than rely on an old fixed 5:00 AM–9:30 PM statement.
For guests, current member-reference information lists a $15 guest fee and says athletic-facility guests must be accompanied by a member and are limited in how frequently they may use the facilities. The exact guest-use limit should be confirmed when you make the reservation because different club facilities can have different guest rules.
Locker Rooms, Fitness & Pool
One reason I enjoy playing here is the convenience after a session. The club includes a fitness center, pool, locker rooms, and other athletic amenities, so it is easy to combine a pickleball session with a workout or a quick swim.
Members also have access to ball-machine equipment for racquet-sport practice. Availability and booking procedures can change, so check with the athletic staff rather than assuming a machine is free when you arrive.
Dining Is a Big Part of the Club Experience
The Pacific Club remains as much a dining and social club as an athletic club. Current club references continue to list the Main Dining Room, Tiare Terrace, Card Room, and Mangos among its dining/social spaces.
Executive Chef Eric Leterc is still leading the club's culinary program in 2026; he is also listed as The Pacific Club's Executive Chef by the 2026 Hawaiʻi Food & Wine Festival.
For pickleball players, the casual venues are particularly convenient because you can finish a session and stay on property for food or drinks instead of driving somewhere else.
Pickleball Events at The Pacific Club
The club has developed a real pickleball-event culture. The 4th Annual Pacific Club Pickleball Invitational in February 2025 drew 124 players, and the club has continued hosting pickleball events into 2026, including a Pacific Club × UH team invitational supported by local sponsors.
I have been involved in organizing Pacific Club pickleball events, so this part of the article is personal for me. Tournaments there feel different from a public-park event because the matches are combined with the club's dining, social spaces, and member community.
Event formats, eligibility, and guest access vary by tournament, so I removed the old blanket statement that every Invitational gives non-members a two-week temporary membership. That may have applied to a particular event structure, but it should not be presented as a permanent rule.
Current Membership Cost
The old version of this article said membership “typically averages around $500 per month.” The club now publishes more specific numbers.
The Pacific Club's current 175th Anniversary membership brochure, effective October 1, 2025, lists a $1,000 initiation fee for regular membership categories. Published monthly dues vary by age:
- Regular age 45+: $520/month
- Regular age 40–44: $520/month
- Regular age 35–39: $390/month
- Regular age 30–34: $390/month
- Regular under 30: $175/month
The brochure also lists a $55 monthly capital fund fee for regular categories plus quarterly food-and-beverage minimums that vary by age/category. These are published 2025–26 rates and can change, so anyone seriously considering membership should request the newest membership packet directly from the club.
Membership remains selective. Current club-reference information describes the application as sponsor-based, with applicants expected to have existing connections to members.
Is The Pacific Club a Public Place to Play Pickleball?
No. This is not the place I would send someone who simply wants public drop-in pickleball in Honolulu. It is a private club, and the value comes from the entire membership experience rather than just court access.

Final Thoughts
My opinion is naturally influenced by being a member, but that is also why I can describe the experience beyond what appears on a facility listing. I like being able to play pickleball, use the fitness facilities, eat, and spend time with friends or family in one place.
If you are invited to play there, it is worth experiencing. Just remember that it is a private club, not a public pickleball venue, and current member/guest rules should always be checked before the visit.
