Pickles at Forté: The Ultimate Insider’s Guide
Pickles at Forté first opened at the end of January, giving Hawaii’s pickleball community a brand-new indoor facility to enjoy.
I was one of the lucky players invited for the free first month, and the courts were packed from early morning until closing time.
Several months later, Pickles opened a second floor with eight more courts, making it the largest indoor pickleball facility in the state of Hawaii—with a total of 14 indoor courts.
I’ll share my experience, along with feedback from other players, about what they loved—and what they’d like to see improved—at Hawaii’s first indoor pickleball facility.

About the Venue
The Pickles at Forté venue is clean, well-lit, and feels genuinely inviting from the moment you walk in. The facility has six pickleball courts on the lower floor and eight on the second floor. The ground-level courts are made from a softer rubber material, which feels easier on the joints and slows the ball down just enough to keep rallies smooth. The upstairs courts, on the other hand, are painted concrete — it looks like they used a leveling compound before adding the pickleball court layers. Because of that, the second-floor courts play a bit differently, offering a slightly faster bounce.
The biggest drawback, though, is the ceiling height. It’s quite low on both floors, which makes lobbing almost impossible. The lighting is bright and modern, but depending on where you’re standing, it can take a few games for your eyes to adjust — I definitely missed a few balls during my first match because of it.
On the positive side, the nets are sturdy and high-quality, and each court is separated by low dividers to keep balls from rolling over. In some sections, they’ve even added full netting from floor to ceiling to stop stray balls from crossing into other courts, which helps keep play organized and safe.

How can I reserve a court?
Members can reserve a court instantly through the CourtReserve app, while non-members can secure a spot by calling (808) 758-4683 or emailing pickles@fortedoho.com to check availability.
Remember that demand often exceeds available courts during peak hours, making reservations nearly impossible. If you can’t book a court, you can join open-play sessions from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. However, open play runs continuously without formal scheduling or a waitlist, so you may have to wait and not get on the court at all if it’s full.

Food & Retail Options
Inside the facility, Teapresso is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and On Point Sports operates a small pop-up shop offering a selection of balls, shoes, and apparel.
An additional pricing
If you’re not ready to commit to a monthly membership—or you’ve already used your weekly 1.5-hour allotment (up to three sessions per week)—you can still play by purchasing day passes or reserving extra court time:
Day Passes
- Kama‘āina, Military, First Responders & Students (valid ID required): $20/day
- Non-Residents: $30/day
Court Reservations
- Beyond the standard membership allotment of three 1.5-hour sessions per week, members may book extra court time at $50 per court, per hour.
Parking
There’s plenty of on-site parking. Members receive two hours of complimentary, validated parking each visit. On weekdays, non-members pay $5 for each 30-minute block before 1:00 PM (up to a maximum of $15), and a flat $5 fee applies after 1:00 PM. Everyone pays a flat $5 on weekends, but members still get the first two hours free. After the initial two hours, rates are $5 for 2–4 hours, $10 for 4–6 hours, and $15 for all-day parking.
Event Reservations at Pickles at Forté
Renting a full court for an hour is a great option, especially for non-members. Court rental is $150 per hour and includes up to four people; each additional resident pays $15, and each additional non-resident pays $25. There’s a $10 service fee per person, and paddle rentals are $5 each.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Like many private clubs, Pickles at Forté has a cancellation and no-show policy. Members must cancel at least 24 hours in advance or forfeit one of their three weekly court allotments. All users—members and non-members alike—will incur a $50 fee for no-shows.

Should you join Pickles at Forté
Does it make sense to join Pickles at Forté, or should you just pay the daily visit fee? Honestly, it depends on what you’re looking for.
The facility is air-conditioned, which is a huge plus in Hawaii’s heat, but it doesn’t have showers. If your main goal is to play intense, competitive games with friends, outdoor courts might be a better fit — the open air, higher ceilings, and island sun help build stamina and feel more like “classic” pickleball.
However, if you prefer a clean, comfortable space where you can reserve a court and know you’ll get your time to play — rain or shine — then Pickles at Forté is worth considering. In the end, it really comes down to your priorities and what kind of playing experience you value most.
